"The more that you read..."

        Dr. Suess simply stated:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the  more places you'll go.”

Although we connect Dr. Suess with our experiences in kindergarten and "Green Eggs and Ham," he was on to something when we made the statement above. Reading has a place in everyone's life at every point in their life. As toddlers and young children we began to read using pictures and famous signs like "McDonald's." In school we read about real life heroes, our world, "Tiki-Tiki-Tembo," and learn how to think beyond the words on the pages. These moments in life help us to find a love for reading and to be able to pick up any book that catches our eye, any newspaper that screams with an interesting headline, and to read through an interesting blog or website.
Reading can teach us a lot about life. Through The Little Enginge that Could I learned about never giving up. In The Diary of Anne Frank I was given a glimpse of the turmoil and despair in the events of World War II and what it would have been like to live during that time. In the dictionary I come across new words and new meanings everyday. (My favorite thing to do is to try and use a new word every day!). Within the pages of any of these books, or in your favorite comic book, catalog, website, and magazine, anyone can uncover new adventures, ideas, places, and types of people.
Don't underestimate reading and the "places" it can take you and your mind! Life would be awfully boring without a good book!
What is your favorite book at the moment? What gets you "lost" in it?
